Alas this is an event that I cannot attend but it is close and looks like fun. I love visiting the lambs at the farm. if you are in the area and can go it sure looks like fun.

Bad Blogger

I know it has been almost two weeks since posting something substantive but thats kind of the way things have been going. In the past couple weeks I have finished knitting a warshrag and finished a second panel of a sweater I started long ago.

I have still been talking to people about completing Advanced Heathcare Directives. It is vitally important that you let others know what you want for your own health in the future. Particularly if you are unable to voice your needs at the time. If you are in a relationship with someone, spouse, kids parents or good friends, you should take a second to ask them if they have thought about it is well.

I have also given a great deal of thought to the question of teaching Ethics. The main point being can ethics be taught? I believe that there is a common Ethic to everyone, i.e. that there are some things that everyone would consider unethical and other that all would consider ethical. ( It is all the grey stuff in between that causes the problems.) But can understanding of principles based on those ethics be taught or just made aware of how to consider them? I have no real answer but I have been thinking about it anyway.

Throw in a batch of illnesses, a birthday party and a pile of snow and you have my last couple weeks.

My Mistake or not?

My mistake with the warshrag was not a mistake in knitting directly but was just me reading the wrong line of the pattern. I took a moment to look at it and figure out that the pattern was trying to do and realized that it was really simple. I just needed to understand what the pattern was trying to do and then knit it up!

In many ways it is like when I learned a language ( Which I can no longer remember – it was many years ago.) When I was translating Portuguese into English and back in my head, talking to people was very hard. But then, in a flash of insite I started thinking in Portuguese and walla! life was much simple. You just have to catch on to make life easier.

Should not admit this but

I should not admit this but I have purled, tinked, knitted, tinked and knitted the same darn row! So in effect my knitting on the train so far today has been a net gain of null. To add insult to injury when I first tinked the row I got the stitches twisted and had to untwist each one as I knitted. Thats my excuse for forgetting to slip the “A” the right way, I was paying attention to turning stitches. At least its the best I can come up with.

Aww grumblesnort

I am trying my hand at two color thread warshrags from MD knitting ( OK yes I know I am slow on keeping up with trends but I am a librarian I have an excuse right?) But alas its harder than I thought to keep everything straight in your briefcase on a crowded train. But I did make some progress, the question is is it in the right direction?
